Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan have reiterated their commitment to deepening bilateral relations, focusing on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, transportation, and regional connectivity. This announcement followed the seventh meeting of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group held in Ankara, where the foreign ministers of both nations co-chaired the discussions.
The meeting covered various aspects of the partnership, with officials assessing the progress made in bilateral relations and agreeing to expand cooperation in crucial areas such as education, cultural exchanges, and economic development. Plans were also made for upcoming reciprocal visits by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, reflecting the ongoing diplomatic engagements between the two countries.
Economic cooperation emerged as a central theme, with both governments committing to support new investment projects and implement measures to create a conducive environment for businesses. In a bid to strengthen people-to-people connections, enhancements in travel, employment, and educational opportunities were also agreed upon. The discussions prominently featured regional connectivity, with Kyrgyzstan emphasizing the Middle Corridor’s importance as a strategic transport route. The nation aims to connect the proposed China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway to this corridor, thereby improving access to European and Middle Eastern markets via Türkiye.
Security issues on both regional and global scales were addressed, with both countries reaffirming their resolve to settle disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law. Türkiye’s role in regional mediation efforts received commendation from Kyrgyzstan, which also expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s backing of its successful bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term.
Kyrgyzstan is set to use its position to foster dialogue among nations while advocating for the interests of landlocked developing countries, mountainous regions, and small island states on the global stage. This strategic partnership between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan highlights a shared vision for cohesive international relations and cooperative regional growth.
