ESET and EVC Group have embarked on a strategic alliance aimed at bolstering Europe’s energy and cyber resilience by developing advanced battery energy storage systems. Their collaboration focuses on the CyberSec BESS initiative, which aims to introduce a new generation of cyber-secure battery energy storage solutions tailored for the European market. With battery storage systems increasingly vital to power grids and crucial energy infrastructure, the emphasis on cybersecurity has become just as critical as ensuring performance and reliability.

The partnership was solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the framework for developing, certifying, and commercializing CyberSec BESS. This initiative was officially launched on June 25, 2026, during Intersolar Europe in Munich, a prominent event in the realm of renewable energy and technologies. The project is set to align with existing and forthcoming European Union cybersecurity regulations, enhancing the long-term resilience of critical energy systems.

CyberSec BESS seeks to merge European expertise in cybersecurity, system integration, and certification with global battery manufacturing capabilities. Martin Talian, ESET’s Chief Corporate Solutions Officer, underscored the importance of integrating cybersecurity from the outset in modern energy infrastructure, rather than adding it later. He noted that this initiative offers a chance to leverage ESET’s experience in safeguarding critical infrastructure, thereby preparing the energy sector for both current and emerging cyber threats.
