Blue Jays Make History, Select JoJo Parker Eighth Overall

by admin477351

The Blue Jays bolstered their prospect pipeline Sunday by drafting shortstop JoJo Parker with the eighth overall pick in the MLB Draft, a historic selection for both team and player. Parker is now the highest-drafted athlete ever from Purvis High School in Mississippi.
Parker’s high school numbers are eye-popping: a .489 batting average with 13 home runs, alongside 64 runs scored and 35 RBIs. He also stole 30 bases, helping lead his school to a state championship appearance.
Equally impressive on the mound, Parker finished with an 8-2 record and a 2.77 ERA, striking out opponents at an impressive rate.
While Parker has committed to play college ball at Mississippi State, the Blue Jays have his pro rights and are eager to integrate his talents into their future plans.
