Turkey Offers to Facilitate Fresh Peace Negotiations Between Russia and Ukraine

by admin477351

Türkiye has reaffirmed its readiness to facilitate a new round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, according to a statement by Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov. The announcement came after discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, underscoring Türkiye’s ongoing role as a mediator in the conflict.

Ushakov, speaking in Kazan, highlighted that Turkish authorities have expressed their willingness to host negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. This offer aligns with Türkiye’s consistent efforts to maintain open communication channels with both Moscow and Kyiv since the conflict began.

Earlier peace negotiations held in Istanbul represented some of the most significant face-to-face discussions between Russian and Ukrainian officials, although they did not yield a lasting resolution. Nonetheless, Türkiye has continued to advocate for dialogue and diplomacy, striving to reduce tensions and prevent further escalation of the conflict.

Türkiye’s balanced approach has involved engaging with leaders from both Russia and Ukraine in support of broader international peace initiatives. By providing a neutral platform for talks, Türkiye seeks to contribute to efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful settlement to the ongoing hostilities.
