Türkiye’s innovative Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School has made a significant mark on the global stage by becoming a finalist for the World’s Best School Prizes. This esteemed international awards programme celebrates schools that excel in innovation and make impactful contributions to society and the environment. The Ankara-based high school, which was founded in 2017, is among the top 10 finalists in the Environmental Action category, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and renewable energy education.
The school has integrated renewable energy systems into its curriculum, providing students with hands-on experience in working with actual energy systems and analyzing energy data. The focus of its educational programmes includes reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting zero-waste practices. These efforts aim to equip students with knowledge and skills relevant to the growing field of renewable energy.
One standout initiative from the school is the Energy Detectives Project. This programme educates middle school students about the importance of understanding and managing carbon footprints, energy conservation, and waste reduction. As part of their learning, students actively monitor energy and water usage in their schools, aiming to decrease consumption and foster sustainable practices from a young age.
