Marking 55 years of diplomatic relations, Türkiye and China are deepening ties through increased cooperation across various sectors, including trade, connectivity, technology, and energy. The relationship, steeped in historical interactions dating back to the ancient Silk Road, has evolved significantly since formal diplomatic ties were established in 1971. Today, China stands as Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with the annual bilateral trade exceeding $50 billion.
Türkiye’s Ambassador to China, Selçuk Ünal, emphasizes that the two nations have expanded their connections through a robust network of passenger and cargo flights linking major cities, as well as Türkiye’s extended diplomatic presence in China through multiple consulates. This enhanced connectivity underscores the growing economic engagement between the two countries.
Both nations are actively working to bolster cooperation in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence, green energy, infrastructure, and commerce. Ambassador Ünal highlights that Ankara and Beijing align on numerous international and regional matters, sharing commitments to peace, stability, and development, along with concerted efforts to prevent conflicts.
Looking ahead, Türkiye and China aim to further develop their partnership under the strategic vision outlined by their leaders. This vision focuses on fostering long-term economic growth and strengthening regional cooperation, building on the foundation of shared historical ties and mutual benefits.
