At the conclusion of Teknofest Blue Homeland, key Turkish officials emphasized Türkiye’s dedication to bolstering maritime security, enhancing defense capabilities, and achieving technological independence. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz underscored the significance of safeguarding Türkiye’s maritime interests, particularly the “Blue Homeland,” in light of escalating geopolitical competition and security challenges. The focus on critical technologies, energy resources, and trade routes further highlights this strategic priority.
The event, held at the Gölcük Naval Shipyard, featured a display of 37 vessels and four aircraft, showcasing the TCG Anadolu, TCG Istanbul frigate, TCG Derya, and Murat Reis submarine. Additionally, the exhibition included domestically developed unmanned maritime systems, symbolizing Türkiye’s advancements in naval technology. Yılmaz highlighted that the country’s defense sector is progressing by integrating manned and unmanned platforms through the use of artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced sensors, and secure communications.
Türkiye’s defense industry has seen a significant localization effort, with the rate now surpassing 80%. This achievement reflects the country’s ambition to solidify its standing among the world’s leading defense exporters. The integration of cutting-edge technologies into defense strategies is a critical component of Türkiye’s broader aim to enhance its maritime and military capabilities.
Teknofest Blue Homeland also served as a platform for competitions in unmanned underwater systems, maritime vehicles, and underwater technologies, aiming to inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators. These competitions highlight Türkiye’s commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering innovation within the defense and technology sectors.
